2016 is a banner year for Commercial State Bank. On Feb. 1, we marked our 95th anniversary in the Lone Star State.
Commercial State Bank got its start in 1921, originally locating in El Campo, Texas. As time progressed, we added three additional full-service locations — in Katy-Fulshear, Humble and Palacios.
Much has changed during our nine-plus decades in business, said Harry J. “Johnny” Brooks, Commercial State’s chairman and CEO. The dawn of the computer age brought electronic banking, ATMs and similar innovation, for instance, while the Great Depression and 2008 recession ushered in reform. Ongoing advances continue to change the way banks do business.
“Commercial State Bank has adapted with the times, and will continue to do so. Still, we will always hold true to our belief in carrying out old-fashioned, honest work,” he said. “We are incredibly honored and humbled to reach this milestone.”
Our company plans to celebrate throughout 2016, incorporating historic glimpses from the past into our monthly eNewsletter. A spring mixer will also bring team members, community partners and customers together to look back at past successes, and celebrate the years to come.
“Not every bank can say they’ve been around as long as Commercial State, and we take that to heart,” Johnny said. “We know we didn’t get here alone. We have our families, friends and neighbors to thank for helping us get where we are today, and we want to involve everyone. We look forward to the next 95 years.”
